Marvin first saw Monsurat on a tranquil yet hot summer day late July 2012 at a construction site in Arizona. It was 115 degrees outside. Monsurat was busy trying to keep cool so at first Monsurat did not pay Marvin much mind. Later Monsurat had to get directions since she was an out-of-towner and Marvin was the man with the answers. Onsite, throughout the week, a few words were exchanged between the two. Soon life went back to normal as Monsurat flew back home to cool down in Chicago.
Just weeks later on August 9, 2012, Marvin took initiative and sent a LinkedIn request, in efforts of keeping connected. He was not even sure if Monsurat would ever see it. Regardless, he made this brave attempt to become part of Monsurat's professional network. Monsurat accepted the request 2 weeks later and they have been linked ever since. Marvin and Monsurat worked hard to stay in sync, deepening their long-distance relationship through sleepless nights thanks to great phone conversation and weekend getaway trips between Arizona and Chicago. Needless to say, the two began to fall in Love, sharing visions and plans of one day living in the same city.
Fast forward to July 16, 2014. Marvin flew to Chicago to celebrate Monsurat's 35th birthday with a romantic weekend for two. The weekend was full of extravagance and charm with a night at the famous Drake Hotel on Chicago's Magnificent Mile and an elegant dinner cruise around Lake Michigan. It was at that dinner cruise aboard The Odyssey that Marvin built up all his nerve to pop the question. Monsurat had no clue it would happen that day. They were sitting on the deck of the boat, a beautiful sunset setting the scene around them. They had just started talking again about their future. Monsurat was wondering when the time would come that they could start that future together. Just at that moment, Marvin pulled out a shiny burgundy box from his pocket and without missing a beat, asked "Will You Marry Me?"
Funny enough, he was trying to keep this moment private and simple. It was classic Marvin. However, a member of the wait staff overheard and proceeded to tell everyone. They even announced the engagement over the loudspeaker and the entire board burst out in applause. A true moment to remember. Monsurat was so surprised but delighted and said "Yes"!
Now they invite you to witness the next major milestone in their everlasting story…
